Alu Vadi – also known as patra is stuffed and
rolled colocasia leaves snack that is popular in both Maharashtrian and Gujarati
cuisine
During monsoons, the snack finds a
prominent place in every Maharashtrian/ Gujrati household. Enjoy this amazing
spicy-cum-tangy taste with tempting looks as a side dish/ snack.
Its due to the seasonal availability of
fresh alu leaves(arbi/ colocasia/ taro). It is rich source of dietary fiber,
vitamin C, calcium and B- complex viatmins.
There are two types of Alu/ Arbi leaves.
They can be recognised by the stems. The green stem ones are used in making sabji
and the black stem ones are used for making alu wadi.
